Engineer of the Year Award (2018) 

George K. George AIA Partner
George K. George joined the firm in 1996 and became a Partner in 2014. With over 20 years of experience, George brings his considerable technical expertise to all phases of building design and construction. He has served as Project Manager for the design and construction of three New York City public schools and a new academic building at SUNY College at Old Westbury on Long Island, NY. He was on the team for the renovation of the U.S. Post Office and Courthouse in Brooklyn, and was the project architect for the renovation of Hamilton Hall at Columbia University. From 2002 to 2005, George was a professor of architecture at the New York City College of Technology, where he currently is an advisory board member. George received a Bachelor of Architecture from Regional Engineering College in Trichy, India, and a Master of Architecture from the University of Minnesota.

KEAN Decennial Engineer

Dilip Varghese, President and CEO of D&K Construction Company

The KEAN Decennial Engineer Award was presented to Mr. Dilip Varghese for his outstanding achievement and contributions in the field of civil engineering and construction industry over the past three decades.
After taking his degree in Civil Engineering from Thrissur Engineering College, Mr. Dilip worked for a short time in the Department of Public Health in Kerala. From the humble beginnings working as sub-contractor and doing small projects, Mr.  Dileep started D&K Construction in 1979. Over the last three decades, D&K constructions successfully completed several large projects for the American State Department and other Federal Agencies. From the humble beginnings, Mr. Dileep was able to grow D&K construction to a premier construction company in the New Jersey / New York area with hundreds of employees and over $100 Million in projects portfolio. He also co-founded the Cedar Hill prep school in New Jersey.
Apart from being a technologist and person with great business acumen, Mr. Dileep is very active in social and cultural activities in New Jersey, New York and in India.  The Kerala center in New York was started By Mr. Dileep and his friends. He along with other people helped start the Santhi Bhavan School in Tamil Nadu which teaches over 300 poor and destitute children. These are few examples of his philanthropic work.
He is recipient of several awards including North American Malayalee of the year award from Pravasi channel ,  Lifetime achievement award from the State of New York in 1996
Mr. Dileep’s three decades of achievements is a testimony to fact that –  with commitment, dedication, customer focus and unwavering focus on quality, one can achieve great success in business.

KEAN Decennial Engineering Entrepreneur 

John Titus, President and CEO of Aero Controls Inc.
The KEAN Decennial Engineer Award was presented to Mr. John Titus for his outstanding achievement and contributions in the field of aeronautical engineering and aviation industry over the past three decades.
After taking his degree in Economics from St. Thomas College, Kozhencherry, John Titus moved to the United States to continue his studies in Aeronautical Technology and received his license from the FAA. From a humble beginning at a small firm as the Manager of Overhaul, he later founded Aero Controls, Inc., FAA certified repair station in 1984 with the headquarters in Seattle, Washington. Aero Controls has earned high prestige for quality products and services. Aero Controls has established a work environment, which creates good results and empowers employees for personal and financial growth.
The Company was presented with a prestigious award by Federal Express as “Minority Supplier of the Year” for excellent performance in quality and production over the years and another award as “Diverse Supplier of the Year”.
Aero Controls, Inc. has achieved a “Silver” level of service rating from Boeing Airplane Company and maintains a “Platinum” level of service with Federal Express.
Mr. Titus is embarking on the Hotel Industry in the U.S. in collaboration with leading corporations in the industry. He is also the Chairman of Nirmal IT Park, an infrastructure company in Cochin, India.
Mr. Titus’s three decades of achievements is a testimony to fact that –  with commitment, dedication, customer focus and unwavering focus on quality, one can achieve great success in business.

Teacher of the Year Award

Teacher of the year 2018 Award was presented to Dr. Umadevi P.P for her outstanding contribution to the teaching profession, her ability to inspire students from all background and for commitment to the community and college.

Engineer of the Year Award (2017)

Mr. Thomas Joseph – President, BTI Coopermatics Inc,  Northampton, PA
Provides leadership to develop technology solutions for hydrogen refueling to fuel cell powered forklifts. Currently developing refueling systems for over the road vehicles.

Mr. Thomas has served as Business Development Manager at Hydrogen Energy systems, Air Products & Chemicals, Inc. Allentown PA; Engineering Manager at Generated Gases, Air Products & Chemicals Inc.; Senior Principal Engineer at Gas Systems, Air Products & Chemicals, Inc.; Principal Engineer at Gardner Cryogenics, Air Products & Chemicals, Inc.; Engineering Manager at Owens Illinois, Vineland, NJ and Mechanical Engineer at Belco Glass, Vineland, NJ.

Mr. Ragy Thomas – Founder and CEO , Sprinklr
Sprinklr is a social media management platform for enterprises. It provides social media marketing, social advertising, content management, collaboration, advocacy and social media monitoring for large enterprises.

Mr. Thomas has been the Head of New York Region – Purple@Epsilon at Epsilon Data Management LLC since March 24, 2008. Previously, Mr. Thomas served as the resident and Chief Technology Officer of Epsilon’s Interactive Services  He also served as Chief Architect of market-leading DREAM email technology platform for Epsilon Interactive, garnering three consecutive Forrester and Jupiter Research leadership rankings.

Teacher of the Year Award

Dr. Surekha Mariam Varghese – Professor and HOD, Computer Science & Engineering, M.A. College of Engineering, Kothamangalam.

Dr. Surekha is an outstanding teacher who has proven her academic excellence in teaching, research, and student administrations. She has numerous publications to her name.  Beyond academics, her commitment to overall student developments and efforts to work with alumni to help students with financial needs is noteworthy.

Student Organization Award for Environmental & Social Initiatives

This year we have chosen, OASIS, Government Engineering College. The organization promotes student involvement in various social programs.  Their goal is to develop more socially responsible students by exposing them to difficulties of people with various health issues are facing everyday.  Their learning from social outreach programs is used in academic learning to prepare students in developing products and services that helps financially poor people.
