CONCEPT CREATORS CONTEST
KEAN is launching the Concept Creators Contest to challenge high school and college students to envision and create innovative solutions for a better future. We invite designers, thinkers, and innovators to propose bold, imaginative, and sustainable designs that address the complexities of tomorrow. This contest is open worldwide to celebrate the Engineers Week 2025 theme, “Design Your Future”.
What We’re Looking For – Innovative and futuristic designs that inspire and challenge conventional thinking – Solutions that integrate technology, sustainability, and social responsibility – Concepts that demonstrate a deep understanding of the complexities and opportunities of the future.
Issue Date: April 2, 2025
Submission Deadline: July 31st, 2025, by 11:59 p.m. EST
Prizes: Six cash awards of $250 each.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The Contest opens for entries on June 1, 2025, and closes July 31st, 2025 (referred to herein as the Contest Live Period. Entries must be submitted electronically per the instructions on the Entry Submission Form. Entries must be received by 11:59 pm EST (US-Eastern time zone) on July 31st, 2025.
- Choose one of three categories for your entry:
1. Powering the Future: Sustainable Energy Solutions.
2. Engineering the Future of Transportation
3. Innovation for Health & Well-being
- Submit a technical abstract (up to 500 words) in English describing your entry. Your abstract should explain how the entry functions, its unique or innovative aspects, the production process, and its potential applications.
- Submit a single-page PDF, GIF, JPEG, or PNG illustrating your entry. The visuals may include drawings, photos, charts, or CAD images to complement your description. Keep each file under 2MB to prevent upload issues. PowerPoint presentations, white papers, or other documents are not allowed. All descriptive text must be entered in the Entry Form, with illustrations limited to captions or callouts. Entries without an illustration will be disqualified—no exceptions
- Video Submission. Submit one video (up to 3 minutes) to support your entry. Upload it to YouTube or Vimeo and provide the link in the Entry Form. Video files cannot be accepted via email.
- Prototype Submission (optional). Entrants are encouraged to include an illustration of their prototype in the submission materials.

SELECTION OF WINNERS:
A winner will be selected in each of the following categories. Each winning entry will receive $250.
- Most Innovative
- Most Impactful
The winner of the Most Innovative category will be chosen by a panel of judges (experts and peers) based upon how original, creative, and forward-thinking the video entry is.
The winner of the Most Impactful category will be chosen by a panel of judges (experts and peers) based upon how effective the video entry is in promoting long-term solutions to a better tomorrow
JUDGEMENT CRITERIA
- Entries will be judged on these criteria:
- Innovation & Creativity (20%) – Originality and uniqueness of the idea.
- Technical Feasibility (20%) – Engineering soundness and practicality.
- Sustainability & Impact (20%) – Environmental, economic, or societal benefits.
- Practicality & Scalability (15%) – Real-world application and scalability.
- Functionality & Performance (15%) – Effectiveness of the prototype or concept.
- Presentation & Clarity (10%) – Clear, structured, and compelling communication
RESTRICTIONS AND NOTIFICATIONS
- No purchase necessary to enter or win. There is no cost to enter the Contest.
- Eligibility: High School Students and College Students (Single or Team entries)
- The Contest is open worldwide, except where prohibited or restricted by national or local law.
- Entries must be submitted electronically by the instructions on the Entry Submission Form.
- By entering, entrants warrant that to the best of their knowledge: (1) their entry is an original idea; (2) they are authorized by the owner of the design to enter the design in the contest; and that (3) the design does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
- The entrant or the entrant’s company, whichever applies, retains ownership of the design ideas submitted to the Contest.
- Submitted materials may not contain any third-party created content (such as third-party logos or other trademarks, copyrighted material, or material that is subject to other third-party proprietary rights including but not limited to music, videos, software etc.), without the written authorization or license from the content owner.
- Entrants grant the organizing committee permission to contact them using the information provided on the contest entry form, including name, address, email address, and phone number.
- Participation in the Contest constitutes an agreement by each entrant, including all members of a team in the case of a team entry, to be bound by these Official Contest Rules.
- The organizing committee reserves the right to disqualify entries that are frivolous or fail to meet the entry requirements as described in these Official Rules.
- All federal, state, local, municipal, income, and other taxes (if any) are the sole responsibility of the winners.
- Any prize won by a team will be distributed to the team leader designated on the entry form.
- Entrants represent and warrant that the materials are owned by them or their company free and clear of any liens or claims of any third-party, that they have a legal right to grant the permission herein given on behalf of themselves, their company, or a third party, if appropriate. Furthermore, the entrant agrees that he/she/they, or, if the design is owned by his/her/their company, that his/her/their company will indemnify and hold harmless the Primary Sponsors, their affiliates, assigns, agents, and employees, against liability should any third-party claim that the use of the materials by the Primary Sponsors, their affiliates, assigns, agents, and employees violates any right of such third party to the materials.
- Except where prohibited by law, the winner’s consent to the use of their name and/or likeness by the Primary Sponsors for advertising and publicity purposes without further compensation.
- Entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the Judges, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Contest. By entering, they agree to waive any right to claim ambiguity or error in these Official Rules.
- By entering the Contest, the entrant(s) agrees that: (1) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or in connection with the Contest, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually without resort to any form of class action; (2) any claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred in entering
the Contest; and (3) under no circumstances will any entrant be permitted to obtain any award for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental or consequential damages and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased.
IN NO EVENT WILL THE CONTEST ORGANIZING COMMITTEE, SPONSORS, THEIR LICENSEES, AND OR THEIR PARENTS, AFFILIATES, SUBSIDIARIES AND RELATED COMPANIES, THEIR ADVERTISING OR PROMOTION AGENCIES OR THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENTS, BE RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR LOSSES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM ACCESS TO, OR USE OF, THIS WEB SITE, ELECTRONIC OR COMPUTER MALFUNCTIONS, OR ENTRANT PARTICIPATION IN THIS CONTEST, EVEN IF SPONSORS HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, EVERYTHING PROVIDED FOR THE CONTEST INCLUDING ANY SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
