I am both honored and excited to serve as the President of KEAN for 2018 and I wish to extend my gratitude to each and every member for this opportunity. While our organization fulfills many objectives, it is our collective work to create a bigger platform for engineering that has never been more important. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all executive committee members, the various subcommittee chairpersons and members, regional vice presidents and the board of trustees.
KEAN (Kerala Engineering Graduates Association of Northeast America), was formed in 2008 as a professional organization for graduate Malayalee engineers living in Northeast America. It is a melting pot – consisting of a diverse group of individuals who provide their own unique perspective on our profession. KEAN serves as a platform for engineers to network and bolsters opportunities to help them navigate their career. It is an organization that fosters professional, cultural and social growth as well. Our many activities include regional meetings, professional seminars and webinars on technical and quality of life improvement, family nights, and other events. Being a KEAN member means that you are an important part of the social fabric that makes our organization a great one. The strength of our organization lies in our members, the relationships that we build with each other, and our dedication to outreach.
2018 is a pivotal year for KEAN – it is the 10th anniversary of the organization and the executive committee and BOT are committed to make it a memorable one. There will be special emphasis on grooming high school students to participate in engineering related activities and special seminars to shine light on the exciting careers in engineering. Likewise, we are committed to equip our young engineers to take on leadership roles. We will continue to support the financially disadvantaged, astute engineering students in Kerala – all of whom have a bright future ahead of them.
Here are some of the upcoming events: Our first regional meeting of Westchester and Rockland will be on March 24th, followed by the New Jersey regional meeting and Family Night on June 16th.. The 10th annual celebration and public meeting will be held on October 20th. In addition, we will have webinars/seminars every other month.
Reflecting back on the past decade, I would like to express my appreciation for the incredible efforts and accomplishments of our past presidents, executive committee members, BOT chairmen and members. A special word of thanks to all the sponsors and supporters of KEAN.
To accomplish all our projects successfully, we need your support. We wholeheartedly invite you to be a part of KEAN. We are proud to say that our members regard a KEAN-membership as a prestigious one. We do not stray from professionalism and integrity in hopes to always keep KEAN honorable. Together, we can do more. You, as a member or supporter, can be the helping hands for KEAN. KEAN is a professional, non-profit organization which is tax exempt with 501(c) 3 status, and your donations are 100% tax deductible.
